2014 - 2015

Office Of Student Services Research And Assessment

Goal
Professional Development Of Divisional Staff
The office of student services research and assessment will be committed to assisting divisional staff in creating meaningful assessment projects as well as further their professional development through a series of presentations, lectures, webinars/seminars.

Objective
Development And Promotion Of Programs
Divisional staff, including student employees, will enhance their existing knowledge as well as gain new information regarding student services assessment, research, and development topics by attending seminars, presentations, and webinars.

KPI
Training Sessions
A variety of assessment-related presentations, webinars, and seminars will be offered during the 2012-2013 academic year. A survey will be administered at the conclusion of each event thereby measuring the effectiveness and participant's satisfaction with the program. Each survey will allow for feedback regarding topics to be offered in future training as well as general comments about the presentation.

Result
Training
Each month either a webinar or presentation was conducted for the division of student sevices. While the majoriity of sessions received positive feedback, it was difficult to address the needs and requests of all departments.

Action
Combined Presentations
Because all requests were not addressed, the division will partner with academic assessment's director in better utilizing resources and providing more in depth training.

Goal
Annual Assessments
The Office of Student Services Research and Assessment will assist division departments will completing annual assessments to meet deadlines.

Objective
Complete Annual Assessments
Division departments will meet deadlines for having annual assessment results posted to the online assessment tracking system (OATDB).

KPI
OATDB Entries
Department entries in the OATDB will serve as the indicator. By September 1, 2015, 100% of departments will have the OATDB entries complete.

Result
Incomplete Entries
Although each of the departments within the division had entries in the OATdb, not all were able to complete the cycle. This was due in part to the fact that some departments did not complete data collections until August 31st.

Action
Monitoring Of Departments
Each month, student services departments' online entries were reviewed and follow up outreach was made to directors who may need assistance. This may be a part of the reason all departments within the division have appropriate entries in the OATdb. This monitoring and outreach will continue.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement Although the division has made progress in completing and engaging in self-evaluation, the gaol of 90% was not met. This was in part due to loss of key professionla staff and departmental reorganizations. The assessment committee was unable to meet as was initinally planned for. The Office of Assessment and Research will continue to work with the division's professional staff in ensuring schedules are met.

Plan for continuous improvement As indicated previously, efforts will be made to address the needs of the division related to assessment planning and training. The Univesity has now instituted the use of CampusLabs throughtout the university community. By this adoption of a very familiar platform, users in the division of Student Services should have no reason not to adhere to established schedules.
