Increase Enrollment
The department will continue to recruit and increase both undergraduate and graduate enrollment.

KPI
Increase In Number Of Criminal Justice Majors
Through recruitment and retention strategies, the College of Criminal Justice will increase the number of undergraduate students enrolled as Criminal Justice majors.


Result
Increased Undergraduate Student Enrollment
Undergraduate enrollment in the college of ciminal justice increaased approximatley 10% from 2675 to 2955 students. This is a higher percentage increase than the last academic year.

Graduate Program Will Increase
Through recruitment and retention strategies, the College of Criminal Justice will increase the number of graduate students enrolled in the graduate programs.

Result
Increased Graduate Student Enrollment
Graduate student enrollment increased from 311 to 330 students. The college currently has 28 PhD students and 302 masters students.

Action
Increasing Enrollment
Our undergraduate student enrollment continues to grow. We will continue our current recruitment efforts. Our graduate student enrollment also increased during this academic year. We will continue recruiting good graduate students from our own undergraduate program as well as from other well-established criminal justice and criminology programs around the nation.

Increased Impact In The Criminal Justice Field
The College will continue to grow and impact the fields of criminal justice, criminology, victim services, forensic science, and security studies.  The faculty within the College and respective Departments will increase in number and impact of publications.

New Faculty Will Be Hired
Four or Five new faculty will be hired to increase the growth of the respective Departments/Divisions.

New Faculty Hired
The College hired five new faculty that will help with continued growth in departments. The Department of criminal justice and criminology hired three new faculty. The Department of security studies hired two new faculty members.

Increase In Journal Publications.
The faculty will produce a higher number of journal publications from last year.

Result
Increased Peer-reviewed Journal Publications
During the academic year of 2013-2014, College of Criminal Justice faculty published 155 peer-reviewed journal publications. This is an increase from last academic year by overall count. Additionally, this total creates a 4.4 journal publication average for our 35 (27 CJC; 2 SS; 6 FS) member faculty. This is above the 2.1 peer-reviewed publication average for criminal justice and criminology programs across the country.

Our college continues to increase impact in the field of criminal justice and criminology. We will continue to hire more competitive and productive scholars and encourage and reward impact through peer-reviewed journal publications.

New Programs
The College will continue to develop and implement new programs to serve our students.

KPI
PhD In Forensic Science
The College will submit the application for a PhD in Forensic Science. It will be submitted by May 2013.

Result
New Programs
Our college was successful at obtaining an approved new Ph.D. program in Forensic Science. This will be the first Ph.D. in Forensic Science in the nation.

New Online Degree Offered
The College will begin to implement the MS degree in Victim Services as an online program. Enrollment and other issues will be resolved by Fall 2013.

New Online Degree
Our newly developed online Master's program in Victim Services Management began the fall semester of 2013. We have been able to fill all courses with new graduate students and now have 44 graduate students enrolled.

Action
New Programs
The College of Criminal Justice will continue to explore the development of new programs and continue to nurture the recently begun degree programs. The Department of Security Studies is working on a potential application for and additional master's degree and exploring the possibility of an undergraduate degree.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

During the academic year of 2013-2014, our college increased both undergraduate and graduate student enrollment and continued to hire competitive new faculty. Our faculty continued to publish in peer-reviewed journals at a high rate and we have begun to collect continuous data on faculty efforts and impact in the field of criminal justice and criminology. We began our new online master's degree in victim services management and will begin the nation's first PhD program in Forensic Science. Our impact in the field will continue to be impressive.


Plan for continuous improvement The College of Criminal Justice will continue recruitment efforts to increase enrollments at the undergraduate and graduate student levels. We will also continue to build necessary faculty lines into our strategic planning to obtain additional faculty members for our growing programs. We will continue to impact the field by increasing our publication rate in top peer-reviewed journals and obtain or develop a standardized method to gather information on publications, grants, presentations, and consulting of our faculty.

The College of Criminal Justice will continue to develop programs and curriculum that serves our students. The Department of Security Studies will be exploring the possibiltiy of adding additional degree programs at the masters and undergraduate levels.
