The gallery will host visiting artists and professionals to lecture, curate exhibitions, demonstrate media and methods, and critique student work.

Visiting Artists And Professionals
The gallery will invite visiting artists to campus. Visiting artists will give lectures and/or demonstrations that are open and promoted to University faculty, staff, and students and to the community at large. The Visiting Artists will be selected by the Gallery committee in conjunction with exhibition proposals and from faculty recommendations. Artists will be chosen based on: • national reputation. • perceived benefit to Art Department students. • perceived benefit to the local community in terms of enhancing awareness of contemporary art.

The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery invited 9 Visiting Artists from around the United States to visit the SHSU Campus. The artists gave public presentations about their work. The presentations were promoted through local media outlets and members of the community as well as SHSU students, faculty and staff attended. The artists also met with art students to give critiques of student work.

Graduating Senior Exhibition
The Gallery Committee will schedule Graduating Senior Exhibitions during finals week of Fall 2012 and Spring 2013, and a Graphic Design Senior Exhbition to be held at the end of the Spring 2013 semester. The student work will demonstrate and be used to evaluate:
• a proficiency in skills and techniques related to the medium used in the artwork. • the student's ability to produce a cohesive body of work. • the student's ability to express a concept through a work of art. • an awareness of contemporary art and its relation to art history.

Senior Exhibitions
The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery held exhibits of work by graduating seniors at the end of the fall and spring semesters. The exhibits included work by all students graduating with BFA's in Studio Art, Photography, and Computer Animation. Seniors graduating with BFA degrees in Graphic Design held an exhibit of their work at the end of the Spring Semester.
Each student showed multiple pieces from their respective capstone courses. In the exhibits, the students were expected to demonstrate their ability to create a cohesive body of work, a professional level of a expertise, and the ability to express a concept in visual art.

Juried Exhibition
The Gallery Committee will schedule the 14th annual Juried Student Exhibition for Spring 2013. A professional artist or arts professional with a national reputation will be invited to select award winning student work and to give a public lecture in conjunction with the exhibition. Every full time art student will be allowed to submit up to 3 artworks in any medium. The juror will choose artworks to be in an exhibition. Awards will be given to Best of Show, Best 2D Artwork, Best 3D Artwork, Best Animation, Best Graphic Design. The artwork will be selected based on • craftsmanship • originality • content • other criteria determined by the juror

15th Student Juried Exhibition
The 15th annual Student Juried Exhibition was held in the Gaddis Geeslin Gallery March 31 – April 11, 2014. Students were invited to submit up to three works in any medium. The juror was Heyd Fontenot, the director of Central Trak artists residency program at the University of Texas, Dallas. Mr. Fontenot selected 46 works by 45 students.
Awards were given for Best of Show, First, Second and Third Place and Four Honorable Mentions.

The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will lease exhbition space off campus to exhibit student work and engage the community.
Result
SHSU Satellite Gallery
In the Fall of 2013, The Department of Art leased a storefront on a street adjacent to the square in downtown Huntsville. Students assisted with the renovation of the space and extensive renovations were done using money budgeted for the Gaddis Geeslin Gallery. Exhibitions began in the Spring 2014 with an exhibition of student work curated by students in ARTS 4317 Museum and Gallery Practices students.
Student exhibitions continued with 3 person shows for seniors taking ARTS 4315 The Business of Art.
The SHSU Satellite gallery has also hosted receptions featuring student art in conjunction with community events on the downtown square.

The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will host exhibitions of contemporary art in a variety of medium by artists from diverse backgrounds from all over United States. The exhibitions will be open to the public. University faculty, staff, students and members of the local community will be encouraged to attend.

Schedule Significant Exhibitions By Nationally Recognized Artists
The Gallery Committee will draw on their knowledge and expertise to invite Nationall Reknown artists from across the country to exhibit at the Gaddis geeslin gallery. Each committee member wil curate one of the 4 exhibitions that will include artists working in Photography, sculpture, performance and video, and mixed media installations. Each exhibition will be accompanied by scheduled artists' lectures, workshops, and critiques by the visitiing artists.
The Gallery Committee will advertise the events and promote opportunities for the local and university communities to interact with the art and the artists.
Result
2013-14 Exhibitions
Members of the Gallery Committee curated 2 group exhibitions and chose one artist for a solo exhibition for 2013-14. Assistant Professor Annie Strader curated Doppleganger, an exhibit of work by 2 nationally recognized artists, Associate Professor Michael Henderson curated Mortal Men, an exhibit of 3 artists from across the Houston, Texas whose work dealt with masculinity and mortality. The Gallery Committee chose Josehphine Durkin, a multi media artist who is exhibited widely for a solo show. Artists from each exhibit visited campus to give public lectures about their work or workshops in techniques related to the works on exhibit.
Debra Harper, the Visual Resource Librarian in the Art Department designed a folding 11” x 12” mailer that included images by the artists and a calendar of the exhibition schedule. 1000 copies were printed and distributed to the gallery mailing list and placed throughout campus and the community.

Faculty Exhibitions
Art Department Faculty will exhibit art works that are the result of their current creative research. Due to the increasing number of Art Faculty and the large scale of much of the work, the Gallery Committee decided to exhibit work by half of the faculty this year and work by the other half of the faculty in 2013.

54th Annual Faculty Exhibiton
The 54th Annual Faculty Exhibition was held January 27-February 13, 2014. Included were works in Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media Sculpture, Photography and Animation by Martin Amorous, Ron Hollinshead, Daniel Mc Farlane, Tudor Mitroi, Valerie Posell, Tom Seifert, Pat Lawler, and Petrina Sowa.
