High Performing Employee Leadership Academy: FY 2014 was the first year for the High Performing Employee Leadership Academy. David Yebra was the instructor for the academy with 18 participates (6 from SHSU, 6 from TDCJ, and 6 from HMH). The Academy was very successful. SHSU will hold the participate count at 18. However, SHSU plans to allow different non-profit organizations to participate on a rotating basis due to demand.
Founders Day/Education Day: The first Founders Day/Education Day was held on campus April 2014. Alumni was invited to attend. President’s Circle Breakfast, Founders Day Educational Seminars, Luncheon and Tree Dedication Ceremony were a part of the agenda.

Dr. Gibson Hoyt stayed in contact with legislators through the Texas State University System staff. Since FY2014 is not a legislative year, the System office staff monitored the Interim Charges and kept Dr. Gibson Hoyt informed.
Dr. Gibson Hoyt met with numerous donors and prospective donors and helped Sam Houston State raise funds. For the third consecutive year, more than 10,000 donors gave to SHSU, establishing an all-time record amount of $11 million contributed, surpassing the previous record, which was set in in 2012-13, by more than $1 million. Dr. Gibson Hoyt hired Dini Spheris, a fund raising consulting firm for non-profit organizations, to begin the background work for a Capital Campaign.

The purpose of this Task Force is to examine the burden of federal regulations and reporting on institutions of higher education.

Dr. Gibson Hoyt would like to keep classes at the student to faculty ratio of 25:1 to maintain the "up close and personal" culture of SHSU. Therefore, she consistently works with Provost Hebert and VP Hooten to ensure the appropriate number of faculty are on staff and the facilities/classrooms will accomodate this ratio. When the doors of Sam Houston Normal Institute opened in 1879, the student-to-faculty ratio was 22:1. Over 135 years later, the ratio remains relatively unchanged at 25:1.
