Goal
Candidate Research Experience
Candidates conduct and present research.


Objective
Graduate Candidates Will Develop Skills To Make Scholarly Professional Presentations.
The candidates in the Curriculum and Instruction Masters of Arts program will present research at professional conferences.

Indicator
Graduate Candidate Presentations
1. Professional Conference presentations of Curriculum and Instruction Masters of Arts graduate students will indicate success. 
2. Professional Conference Decision Letters will provide feedback to students regarding the reasons for acceptance or denial of the presentation proposal.

Criterion
Graduate Professional Presentations
Because an increase in number of presentations will indicate increased skill at presentation proposals, the number of professional presentations by the Masters of Arts graduate students in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction will increase from the previous year.

Unfortunately, the past three years there have been no students in the program.  We have begun the paperwork to phase this program out of our inventory.

Action
Masters Of Art In Teaching (MAT)
The paperwork has been submitted to the THECB to change the name of the program to an MAT.

Goal
Teaching To Develop Student Critical Thinking
Encourage experienced teachers to use critical thinking in their classrooms.

Objective
Graduates Will Demonstrate Knowledge And Use Of Current Teaching Research Related To Developing Student Critical Thinking.
Graduate students will demonstrate skills in conducting current literature reviews in the field of teaching/education related to critical thinking assignments in the classroom and develop research-based critical thinking assignments. 

Indicator
Critical Thinking Assignment Portfolio
Students in the Curriculum and Instruction MA Program will develop a portfolio of critical thinking assignments completed in classrooms by students.  Students will have the predetermined criteria in the form of a rubric. 

Criterion
Portfolio Quality
Students will score 80% or higher based on the rubric. As mentioned in the previous goal, we hope to have this program deleted from our inventory during 2013-2014.
