Three Career Services Counselor Liaisons Were Hired Fall 2013
Career Counselor Liaisons for the College of Criminal Justice, College of Education and College of Business Administration were hired and joined the Career Services staff in November 2013. These counselors will continue to be embedded part-time in each of their respective Colleges to provide the students in each College easier access to Career Services' programs and services.

A new career assessment administration and interpretation session was added to the Summer 2014 New Student Orientation program.
Online versions of face-to-face services were offered to distance, online and students attending satellite campuses including: InterviewStream, online career counseling and career assessment interpretations, Skype interviews and an online resume builder through JOBS for KATS.

Additional Outreach And Communication Technology Provided To Incoming Freshmen, Distance And Online Learners And SHSU Satellite Campuses
Students attending Summer Orientation 2014 sessions were invited to take the MBTI and Strong Interest Indicator career assessments and attend an Orientation break-out session to receive their results and a counselor's interpretation. Over 500 students participated.
InterviewStream, an online mock interview program was promoted heavily to distance and online students as well as to students attending SHSU satellite campuses to provide a more convenient access to our mock interview services. Skype and online counseling and resume critiques were also offered to these students who found traveling to the SHSU main campus inconvenient or impossible due to distance.
Career counselors opened up two days a month to have office hours at the Woodland Center campus "One-Stop-Office during the long semesters and one day a month during the summer months.
Career counselors traveled to both the Woodlands Center campus and the College Park campus to provide workshops and programs for SHSU students attending these campuses throughout the year.
The first Teacher Interview Day was held at the Woodlands Center campus on March 28, 2014.
All these additional outreach and communication technologies will be continued in the next academic year unless budgets prohibit the continued administration of career assessments during New Student Orientation.

The Director of Career Services met with staff of the SHSU Department of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Online Programs & Communication to discuss best practices and suggestions for improving, expanding and tracking social media outreach efforts, especially our LinkedIn account on March 20, 2014.
The Assistant Director of Career Services polled fellow members of the Houston Area Consortium of Career Centers (HACCC) to discuss their social media best practices.
