2013 - 2014

On Campus Recruitment

Goal
Camp Participation
Increase summer camp and conference participation on campus.

Objective
Promotion
We will work with summer camps, particularly camps that are hosted by on-campus entities, to run promotion and online registration, in order to promote the camp to a larger population group, which will in turn, increase camp numbers. This will also allow for more recruiting during the camp season and afterwards.

KPI
Attendance
Through comparison data the summer camp attendance of summer camps for 2014 will be greater than attendance for 2013.

Result
Increase
Our camp participation was increased overall, particularly in the arts, as we hosted two new camps: Now and Next Dance, and Animation Creation. We had the opportunity to meet with all campers and speak to them about SHSU, maximizing our recruiting opportunities with them.

Action
Continuation
We will continue with this objective to increase camp participation on campus. While our growth this year was an achievement, our facilities have the capacity to handle more campers throughout the summer. Our staff can handle the larger workload as well, which will keep our office cost efficient, so we would like to expand our programs to utilize our staff to the best of our ability.

Goal
Campus Participation
Increase involvement of On-Campus Recruitment office with campus events for academic departments/colleges.

Objective
Campus Events
We will work with academic departments and colleges to help them coordinate the planning and marketing for on-campus events, at which recruiting opportunities can be increased. This will help us to build relationships with on-campus entities to the Division of Enrollment Management, but also to aid the academic departments in utilizing our services, rather than adding more workload to professors during the academic semesters.

KPI
Events
More on campus events will be held in 2014 compared to 2013.

Result
Increase
Our office worked to plan and host twice as many programs as we hosted in 2013.  We built relationships with offices that we’d never worked with, including the College of Sciences, the Dean of Students’ Office, and Undergraduate Admissions. This allowed us to recruit students at more events than previous years while developing partnerships between university Divisions.

Action
Continuation
We will continue this objective in the 2014-15 year, with the hope of hosting more events and working with new departments and colleges on campus.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

New management reviewed the plan and decided that the two-night program placed unnecessary financial restraint on the On-Campus Recruitment office. As a solution, we partnered with the Huntsville State Park to offer accommodations for troops who wanted to stay overnight of their own accord, however we did not coordinate it or provide anything financial for the stay. We also increased the Scouts@SAM fee a small amount to allow for more program provisions, such as a large breakfast and better giveaway items. The program was a success, however the previous plan has been retired.

Plan for continuous improvement Our office continues to strive to expand our involvement with other campus entities. We are in the process of building or rebuilding many relationships with departments and colleges. This is allowing us to brainstorm new ideas about how we can best serve others on campus, while still serving the needs of the Division of Enrollment Management. We will continue to improve the Scouts@SAM and Jr. Bearkats programs by utilizing the services of the On-Campus Recruitment staff as well as the Visitor Center staff members. We are also working with on and off-campus entities to see how we can improve our summer camp programs. We are aiming to do some program comparisons with other universities in our University System as well as in our region.

In addition to the two above goals we will determine at least one addition area to improve upon.
