Action
Change To Criterion For Success
Because there are two outcomes within this objective, job offer and interview, we are going to reduce this objective to measuring the more stringent of the two objectives.  We will re-word the objective to:
Students will be offered a job within the nursing profession.
This action was recommended by our accrediting agency, ACEN.
Decrease the criterion from 90% to 70%

Goal
Graduation Rate For Nursing Students
The Department of Nursing will successfully graduate its students.

Objective
On-Time Graduation Rate
Students who graduate within 36 months of the date they were admitted to the nursing program will be considered “on-time” graduates consistent with the THECB policies.

On-time is defined as 36 months from the date they were admitted to the nursing program.

Action
Encourage Retention
Use standardized tests to identify students who are weak. Assign facuty mentors to remediate and mentor students.  Refer students to appropriate student support services as needed.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement NA

Plan for continuous improvement This was the first year for the nursing program to measure it's outcomes using OATDB.  The objective related to job placement was found to be unrealistic at 90%.  It was also worded too vaguely as it included interviewing for a job or internship rather than actual employment.  thus, we narrowed the goal to actual employment and lowered the criteria from 90 to 70%.The second goal related to on-time graduation.  We met this goal of 70% graduation rate or higher.  We plan to retain this goal by identifying struggling students and helping the remediate and learn good study skills.
