Another workshop was held for department administrative personel that assist faculty with courses taught abroad.

Action
Workshops
These workshops were received well.  Due to the variety of schedules for faculty however, there is a need to provide additional opportunities for this training.  We propose to increase the number of workshops to 2 times each semester.  In addition there is a need to provide workshops for administrative assistence. These individuals do a lot of the work related to these program and also need our support.

International Week
Worked with the International Student Organization in developing the programming for International Week in the spring semester.

Action
Student Group Involvement
This next spring a new student group that was established in collaboration with OIP, will take charge of organizing and putting on the International Week.   A OIP student advisor will partner with this newly established group to present a series of international events during this week in the spring.  This student support and involvement was lacking this past cycle, although there were a few very dedicated students that made the event that was put on successful.

Goal

Identify funding for a full-time study abroad coordinator position (from it's current part-time status) that will provide increased services to students and faculty.  This position will also promote and market opportunities to the campus community.

Goal
International Student Enrollment
To enhance the number of international students on campus

Objective
Increase International Student Enrollment
Plan and implement recruitment strategies

KPI
International Student Enrollment Comparison
International student enrollment fall '11 will be compared with fall '12 to determine enrollment increase/decrease.

Result
Recruitment Efforts
Recuriting efforts were less leading into the fall, given the retirement of the part-time OIP recruiter. Numbers still increase overall by 6 percent.  This increase was partly due to the group of students that came in through the dual degree program in the College of Criminal Justice.

Action
Recruitment
We will attempt to work with Enrollment Management to train the current advising staff to take advantage of opportunities to recruit international students. We have been working within the reorganized structure of EM to streamline the processes for international student applicants and devote up to half of each of the OIP advisor’s days to answering admissions inquiries and following up on pending applications. Sending out the OIP advisors to recruit is resulting in complaints from student regarding their unavailability. We will be working with EM to resolve this dilemma and meet the recruitment targets for international students.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

We will also expand and elaborate on the different areas of service under study abroad, including service to walk in student appointments, and policy development and implimentation.
