Increase Enrollment
The department will continue to recruit and increase both undergraduate and graduate enrollment.

KPI
Increase In Number Of Criminal Justice Majors
Through recruitment and retention strategies, the College of Criminal Justice will increase the number of undergraduate students enrolled as Criminal Justice majors.


Result
Increase In Enrollment
Through our recruitment and retention efforts, the College of Criminal Justice undergraduate enrollment increased by 6.5% for the academic year of 2012-2013. Our undergraduate enrollment grew from 2517 to 2675.

Graduate Program Will Increase
Through recruitment and retention strategies, the College of Criminal Justice will increase the number of graduate students enrolled in the graduate programs.

Result
Graduate Enrollment Decreases
Our graduate student enrollment declined slightly from 322 master and doctoral students to 311. We currently have 253 graduate students enrolled in our various master degree programs and 58 graduate students enrolled in our doctoral program

Action
Continue To Increase Enrollment
Our undergraduate student enrollment continues to grow. We will continue our recruitment efforts. Our graduate student enrollment slightly declined when we limited the number of graduate students that we accepted last year. However, with the addition of our masters degree in Victim Services, our graduate student enrollment is back up this year.

Objective
Increased Impact In The Criminal Justice Field
The College will continue to grow and impact the fields of criminal justice, criminology, victim services, forensic science, and security studies.  The faculty within the College and respective Departments will increase in number and impact of publications.

New Faculty Will Be Hired
Four or Five new faculty will be hired to increase the growth of the respective Departments/Divisions.

Result
Six New Faculty Hired
During the academic year of 2012-2013 our College of Criminal Justice was able to hire six new faculty. We hired two new faculty for the development of our Security Studies program, two new faculty for the Forensic Science program, and two new faculty for the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology.

Increase In Journal Publications.
The faculty will produce a higher number of journal publications from last year.

Result
Publications Increase
The faculty of the College of Criminal Justice produced significantly more peer-reviewed publications than the last academic year. Our faculty produced 80 publications last year and 153 this year.


Action
Continued Impact In The Field Of Criminal Justice And Criminology
We were able to hire six additional faculty members this academic year and we hope to continue building each of our programs in the next coming year. We also continued to increase our very strong impact in the field by producing 153 peer reviewed journal articles. This next year we desire to increase this number and either develop or obtain a standardized method for collecting publication, grant, presentation, and consulting work for our faculty.

New Programs
The College will continue to develop and implement new programs to serve our students.

PhD In Forensic Science
The College will submit the application for a PhD in Forensic Science. It will be submitted by May 2013.

Result
New PhD Program Approved At University Level
The College, and now the Department of Forensic Science, has submitted the application for the PhD program in Forensic Science. It has been approved at the University level and is currently awaiting approval from the Coordinating Board.

New Online Degree Offered
The College will begin to implement the MS degree in Victim Services as an online program. Enrollment and other issues will be resolved by Fall 2013.

Victim Services MS For Fall 2013
The College of Criminal Justice is beginning the MS degree in Victim Services this fall (2013). At this point there have been 10 students accepted into this new program and we expect to accept a few more before fall semester begins.

Action
Continued Program Development
The College of Criminal Justice and Department of Forensic Science submitted the application for a PhD Program in Forensic Science. The program has been approved at all levels and currently is awaiting approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Upon approval we will continue to develop this program. We also were able to begin our new Master’s program in Victim Services in the fall of 2013. We will continue to work on curriculum development and request for additional faculty to support this program. The College of Criminal Justice will continue to explore additional programs to serve our students. The next academic year we will propose a Forensic Science minor.



Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement We were able to impletment the new MS online program in Victim Services, hire two new faculty for that program, and initiate classes the fall of 2013. We continued to recruit and increase both undergraduate and graduate student enrollment.

Plan for continuous improvement The College of Criminal Justice will continue recruitment efforts to increase enrollments at the undergraduate and graduate student levels. We will also continue to build necessary faculty lines into our strategic planning to obtain additional faculty members for our growing programs. We will continue to impact the field by increasing our publication rate in top peer-reviewed journals and obtain or develop a standardized method to gather information on publications, grants, presentations, and consulting of our faculty.

The College of Criminal Justice will continue to develop programs and curriculum that serves are students.
