2012 - 2013

Dean Of Students

Goal
Greek Life Accrediation And Assessment
Eighty percent of the Greek community will achieve good standing in Greek Life's accreditation and assessment program "STAR".

Objective
Evaluate Greek Organizations Living Up To Their Values
STAR will determine if Greek student organizations are successful in regards to their academics, community service, philanthropy, campus involvement, member development, and organizational management. If they don't receive accrediation the program allows them to see what they need to improve on.

KPI
Assessment Tool
The assessment reports the Dean of Students Office consistently update throughout the school year when each Greek organization turns in completed paperwork verified by the Greek Life staff allows the department and chapter to see if the organization is performing satisfactory or not.

Greek chapter advisors are also updated after the fall semester as to how the organizations have performed up to that point so that they may address any issues if any chapters are not performing as they should to be able to receive accreditation by the end of the full academic year.

Because of this 70% or more of the Greek community are expected to receive accreditation from the Dean of students Office allowing them to remain active at the university.

Result
Success
18 out of the 25 Greek organizations received accreditation in the STAR assessment program, which is 72% of the Greek community that is accredited.

Action
Onward And Upward
The chapters that didn’t earn accreditation were put on probation meaning that if that don’t receive accreditation the next academic year, they will be suspended for a year. They also have to come up with additional chapter success plans which they must follow to ensure they earn accreditation.

The chapters who earned accreditation were awarded trophies, plaques, and other forms of recognitions from the Dean of Students Office in acknowledgement of their hard work.

These 2 forms of encouragement to achieve accreditation should raise the percentage of Greek organizations who receive accreditation from 72% to 80% this upcoming school year.

Goal
To Effectively Establish Mentor Relationships
To effectively establish mentor relationships between incoming freshman/transfer students with faculty/staff volunteers.

Objective
Mentoring Opportunities
Mentoring opportunities will be made available throughout academic year for mentors and mentees.

  1. We will provide opportunities for mentors and students to come together for fellowship and relationship building.
  2. We will provide a resource for mentors to connect with each other one on one to share mentoring ideas.

KPI
Program Survey
The FLASH Mentoring Program will survey students and mentors on the effectiveness of relationship building and idea sharing.

As a result of effectively providing opportunities to build relationships and share ideas 80% of those surveyed will indicate overall satisfaction with the mentoring program.

Result
Survey Results
Results of the survey found that 90% of program participants were satisfied with the program.  The survey also yielded a 100% of mentors contributed to relationship building and idea sharing.

Action
Future Actions
We will likely raise our criterion to 92% satisfaction for the next measurement cycle since we were successful in meeting our objective this academic year.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

A follow-up survey was given to family members to evaluate Parent & Family Weekend. This indicated 92.75% of those surveyed were satisfied with the Parent Relations Office. This represents a 2.75 percent increase from the previous year. This shows that more parents are utilizing the Parent Relation’s Office and benefiting from its services.

Plan for continuous improvement The FLASH Mentoring Program measured a 90% satisfaction rate with participants of the program.  Those surveyed indicated they would participate in the program again and were satisfied with the opportunities made available throughout the academic year.  We intend on providing more opportunities for mentors and mentees to build relationships and share ideas in the forthcoming years.  After executing all objectives we found that the FLASH Mentoring Program has reached its goals for the 2012-2013 year.
