January Ski And Snowboarding Trip
Students who take advantage of the January Ski and Snowboard Trip will report participation: 1. increased self-esteem, 2. enhanced interpersonal relationships 3. involved learning at least one new skill.

Survey With StudentVoice
The indicator will be a survey with a Likert scale 1-5 with a place for comments for two of the items. Expectations are that 90% of participants will report positive experiences with the trip. We are especially interested in the interpersonal relationships and skill based ratings improving to over 85%.

Winter Break Ski Trip Assessment
87.5% of respondents stated that they either strongly or moderately agreed that they fostered interpersonal relationships as a result of this trip.
100% of respondents stated in some way they they learned a new skill or concept as a result of this trip.

The outdoor program will continue to work on advanced training for its trip leaders on how to conduct nightly debriefing activities. This will potentially help participants on their trips fully realize the benefits of participation

Freshmen students are encouraged to attend Bearkat Camp to learn of spirit and traditiions at SHSU.

Students who attend Bearkat Camp will report being better prepared to be a student at SHSU, realized increased interpersonal relationships with fellow students, and have a better appreciation of university traditions.

Results of a Campus Labs Survey administered to participants after experiencing Bearkat Camp will demonstrate:

At least 95% of students will report that participation in Bearkat Camp increased their appreciation for university traditions.

Results found that 96.43% of students stated that they either strongly or moderately agreed that they felt better prepared to be a student at SHSU.
94.64% of students stated strongly or moderatly agreed that participation in Bearkat Camp fostered interpersonal relationships. 4.17% were neutral on this question.
97.62% of students stated that Bearkat Camp increased their appreciation of University traditions.

At least 90% of participants will complete a survey regarding experiences at Bearkat Camp before their exit indicating better preparation to be SHSU students, increased interpersonal relationships, and appreciation of university traditions. Specifically, we want to determine if our interventions were effective for participants regarding better preparation to be SHSU students and increased interpersonal relationships, areas we viewed as weaknesses in 2011-2012.

Bearkat Camp Survey 2012
Only 168 of approximately 400 students completed the survey, therefore not reaching the 90% survey completion rate. However, those surveyed did give us a good representative sample of comparison from the 2011-2012 data.

Bearkat Camp Action
Bearkat Camp will review the findings of its survey and conduct a thorough policy and personnel review to seek better avenues for students and counselors to interact and foster interpersonal relationships. This will be paramount as they move into the new facility for the 2014 Camp Session.

The overarching goal for Recreational Sports is to encourage physicial fitness.

Students who participate in fitness programs as part of Recreational Sports will report they have gained benefits from the programs.

StudentVoice Surveys
Surveys through Campus Labs will assess the benefits of participating in group fitness programs. Survey results from 2011-2012 indicated that at least 70% of participants reported improvement in wellness, self-esteem, and stress levels. The goal for this year is to increase the number of participants reporting improvements in wellness, self-esteem, and stress levels to over 75%.

Due to turnover in our assessment and programming personnel, not much data was collected in this area. However, of the small sample size taken, over 75% of the respondents stated that there was improvement in their self esteem, stress and wellness levels.
