Residence Life will provide more in-hall leadership, support and continuity for our residents by obtaining 1 additional FTE to be filled by professional Residence Hall Directors.
Funding would need to be secured for this item in the amount of $36,300 to cover salary and benefits.

Reduction Of Student-To-Professional Staff Ratio
Adding an additional Residence Hall Directors will generate a 15% reduction in our student -to-professional RHD staff ratio, which will be more in line with ACUHO-I and CAS standards. The national average, according to ACUHO-I is 1 RHD to 286 residents. We currently operate at approximately 1 RHD to 550 residents.

Student Satisfaction With Internet Service Indicated
Although we did not ask about business processes on our End of Year Survey again this year, we asked about internet access. Of the 721 responses to the questions, 68.65% (495) stated they were satisfied with internet access in their residence hall.

New Systems Analyst Hired
A new Systems Analyst was hired on May 1, 2013 after having a vacancy for most of the fiscal year. He is currently assisting in coordinating this process, so our goal will be on-going into the next year.

This will support the Institutional goal of "Promoting a stimulating learning environment through the integration of academic settings, campus culture and service." The Department of Residence Life offers programs to residence hall students to foster personal growth and development in order to enhance their educational experience.

Numbers of participants in residence hall programs have decreased from 5347 in FY12 to 4709 in FY13 (a decrease of 638), although the numbers of programs offered increased from 126 in FY12 to 138 in FY13 (an increase of 12).

Continue With Current Programming Funds And Plans
Although the number of programs offered increased by 12, attendance for the year was down by 638 participants. Attendance levels could possibly have been affected by the loss of one professional staff member (RHD) in December, resulting in less staff to provide publicity and help with overall programming in the Spring.

Survey Results Demonstrated Satisfaction With Residence Hall Programming
Of 725 respondents to Question 21 on the survey, 594, or 81.93% stated they were somewhat or very satisfied with residence hall programming.

Set A Higher Satisfaction Goal
Although we met this goal, of the satisfied responses, 32.55% of those answered "Very satisfied". We would like to have at least 45% of those responses next year to be in the "Very satisfied" category.
