2012 - 2013

Office Of Student Services Research And Assessment

Goal
Professional Development Of Divisional Staff
The office of student services research and assessment will be committed to assisting divisional staff in creating meaningful assessment projects as well as further their professional development through a series of presentations, lectures, webinars/seminars.

Objective
Development And Promotion Of Programs
Divisional staff, including student employees, will enhance their existing knowledge as well as gain new information regarding student services assessment, research, and development topics by attending seminars, presentations, and webinars.

KPI
Training Sessions
A variety of assessment-related presentations, webinars, and seminars will be offered during the 2012-2013 academic year. A survey will be administered at the conclusion of each event thereby measuring the effectiveness and participant's satisfaction with the program. Each survey will allow for feedback regarding topics to be offered in future training as well as general comments about the presentation.

Result
Types Of Presentations
While survey results indicate an overall high satisfaction rating of 4 or higher based on a Likert scale ranging from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), requests continue for more personal presentations rather than webinars. The topics presented during the previous year focused predominately on assessment related topics. Other presentations were conducted for the purpose of educating staff and student employees on best professional practices, customer service training, and legal updates pertaining to the field of Student Affairs (Clery Act, FERPA, etc.)

Action
Review Of Survey Findings
Review will continue regarding the topics presented in order to provide the type of information indicated in the survey results.

Goal
Annual Assessments
The Office of Student Services Research and Assessment will assist division departments will completing annual assessments to meet deadlines.

Objective
Complete Annual Assessments
Division departments will meet deadlines for having annual assessment results posted to the online assessment tracking system (OATDB).

KPI
OATDB Entries
Department entries in the OATDB will serve as the indicator. By September 1, 2013, 100% of departments will have the OATDB entries complete.

Result
Review Of OATdb Entries
On September 30, 2013, a comprehensive review of all departments entries was conducted. As of that date, five departments lacked completed entries. Notification was given to those departments, resulting in some but not all entries' completion.

Action
Departmental Monitoring
This year seemed to have had more departments failing to provide entries by designated deadlines. To avoid this problem in the future, departments will be monitored each month in order to ensure appropriate deadlines are met. This task will be conducted by the Associate Dean of Student Services Assessment and Research and the Student Services Assessment Committee .

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement A concentrated effort was made to provide training applicable to both staff and student employees. However, given the nature of certain topics such as the Clery Act, a select few sessions were provided for staff only.

Plan for continuous improvement Upon review of the previous year's presentations, additional topics will be provided. These will include ethics, communication skills, and an expanded social media presentation focusing on legal ramifications.
