Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement The University Camp is currently in the construction phase, and while space continues to be a challenge to the growth of the program due to leased facilities at Forest Glen, the construction of the University Camp will ensure added programming flexibility by 2014. The development of the University Camp is a priority to continue with the success of Bearkat Camp by bringing the spirit, pride, and tradition to the majority of our incoming students.

A communication survey will be developed and students will be surveyed for 2012-2013 to evaluate the effectiveness and value of e-mail marketing to the campus community.

The Collegiate Readership Program measured the extent students are more informed on civic and global issues. In order to expand the program and increase student perception of benefits and availability of news information the Collegiate Readership Program has incorporated an internet tool, USA Today iPad App, as a new component. The Collegiate Readership Program will survey students on their knowledge and usage of the new iPad App.

The luncheons are a valuable tool used to discover important student issues and areas of the University that may need improvement. This continues to be an important component of communication with students by giving the student an opportunity to offer constructive ideas concerning the improvement of University programs and services. Students will be asked to share their ideas concerning what changes they would like to see at SHSU.  Administrators will be notified of valid student concerns, and asked to consider making the changes that address student needs on campus.

During FY12, a new coordinator assumed responsibilities for the ADAI. As a result, the full-time coordinator for the ADAI will develop a more meaningful assessment program to determine the impact of ADAI programming on student development.  This indicator will now be reported through the Counseling Services Online Assessment Tracking Database.
