The Human Resources Department will use existing policies, procedures, and compensation philosophy to develop a Comprehensive Pay Plan by February 15, 2012. The Comprehensive Pay Plan will provide additional guidance to managers regarding compensation and classification. Customer Service Satisfaction Surveys received will be monitored for feedback, as well as ongoing feedback regarding the Comprehensive Pay Plan will be requested from the HR focus group, with at least 85% of responses meeting expectations.

This document explains the philosophy and principles of pay at SHSU, staffing policies and procedures, salary administration, the reclassification process, and defining contract labor. A Focus Group Survey was sent out to a group of 71 staff employees. Of the responses received, 94.7% of the respondents indicated the Comprehensive Pay Plan meets or exceeds expectations as being user-friendly, clear in explanation and clear in procedures; and 5.3% indicated no response for this question.

Some of the feedback received from the HR focus group indicated that the employee was not even aware that there was a Staff Handbook. Regarding Consistent Service Provided and Increase in Efficiency, 94.7% of respondents indicated meets or exceeds expectations for user-friendly and clear in procedures, while 5.3% indicated below expectations in these areas. 100% of respondents indicated meets or exceeds expectations for clear in explanation. Regarding Guidance Provided to Managers and Employees, 94.7% of respondents indicated meets or exceeds expectations for user-friendly and clear in procedures, while 5.3% indicated below expectations in these areas. 89.5% of respondents indicated meets or exceeds expectations for clear in explanation, while 10.5% indicated below expectations in this area.
