Office Of Student Services Research And Assessment

Goal
Professional Development Of Divisional Staff
The office of student services research and assessment will be committed to assisting divisional staff in creating meaningful assessment projects as well as further their professional development through a series of presentations, lectures, webinars/seminars.

Objective
Development And Promotion Of Programs
Divisional staff, including student employees, will enhance their existing knowledge as well as gain new information regarding student services assessment, research, and development topics by attending seminars, presentations, and webinars.

Indicator
Training Sessions
A variety of assessment-related presentations, webinars, and seminars will be offered during the 2010-2011 academic year. A survey will be administered at the conclusion of each event thereby measuring the effectiveness and participant's satisfaction with the program. Each survey will allow for feedback regarding topics to be offered in future training as well as general comments about the presentation.

Criterion
Staff Development Workshops
All departments' representatives will attend at least 90% of assessment/development workshops sponsored by the office of research and assessment. At the conclusion of each event, participants will complete the Research and Assessment Presentation Survey. The results of the survey will be analyzed and future workshop topics will be determined by the survey results.


Finding
Workshop Attendance Survey Results
Departments within the Division were represented by 98% attendance at the workshops, seminars, and webinars sponsored by the Office of Research and Assessment. Based upon results from the surveys distributed at each event, additional topics that address the needs indicated by participants have been proposed for the upcoming year. During the upcoming year, topics have been expanded to include technology, personnel relations, and social media as examples. 

Action
Monthly Meetings
An assessment/research/staff development -related webinar, seminar, or presentation was conducted each month during the academic year. Evaluation surveys were administered at the conclusion of each event. Based upon the comments received from the surveys, more topics related to professional development were added as opposed to strictly assessment or research related topics.

Annual Assessments
The Office of Student Services Research and Assessment will assist division departments will completing annual assessments to meet deadlines.

Objective
Complete Annual Assessments
Division departments will meet deadlines for having annual assessment results posted to the online assessment tracking system (OATDB).

Indicator
OATDB Entries
Department entries in the OATDB will serve as the indicator.

Criterion
At Least 90% Compliance
At least 90% of departments will have their OATDB entries completed by the established deadlines.

Finding
Goals Met
To date, 100% of departments have completed the necessary entries thus far required by the deadline.

Action
Communication
Communication of the deadlines seems to be the key to having the departmental entries completed.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Participants, while indicating a high level of satisfaction with each event when responding to the surveys, seemed to feel the information related to assessment had been adequately addressed in previously distributed literature and/or presentations. Providing more variety in presentation topics is a goal for the upcoming year. The Office of Research and Assessment will collaborate with divisional staff as well as solicit input from external sources.  

This office will communicate deadlines to division departments as received.
