Maintain an effective and efficient referral system for the Students of Concern (SOC) Team.

The Dean of Students' Office will assess the effectiveness and user satisfaction of the Students of Concern Team referral process.

A survey will be developed and administered to the members of the SHSU community to exam the effectiveness of the intervention and satisfaction of those who utilize this progress.

As a result of utilizing the SOC Team 90 percent of responders will indicate satisfaction with process effectiveness as well as the SOC Team's positively impacting the situation of concern. 

There were not enough responses to our survey for the findings to be statistically significant.

Due to the lack of responses, the survey will be distributed again for the 2011 - 2012 academic year. Initial referrals will be sent out a survey within a 2-week period.

To create a positive and informative image of Greek Life through various mediums of communication and programs.

We will bring in 2 guest speakers an academic year to educate and motivate current and potential Greek members on Greek Life and to excite them to become more active during their college years.

The event Sneak Peek at Greek will allow Greek organizations to inform non-Greek students about their organization and upcoming functions.

The Greek Life office will provide detailed Greek Life brochures and newsletters for students and faculty via hard copies and Greek Life website.

We will have increased Greek Life participation in university activities.

We will conduct surveys to see if students are more informed about Greek Life and our events. Then the information will be used to find areas we need to focus on more when educating others about the Greek Life community.

At least 70% will be aware of information related to Greek Life. 

With only 25 students responding to the online survey, the results are inconclusive. We will make a better effort to obtain participants for Greek Life surveys in the future to better access the effectiveness of the Greek Life program and our marketing strategies.

 

Greek Life staff completed the objective of bringing in two guest speakers during last academic school year, Rick Barnes and David Stollman from Campus Speak talked to the Greek Life student community as well as general SHSU student community about being better student leaders and taking pride in the organizations they are members of to add on to their legacies while making the most of their college experience. During Fall 2010, Rick Barnes specifically spoke about leadership and what it takes to be a leader to 350 Greek and non-Greek students. In the spring semester, David Barnes spoke on the topic of apathy in student organizations and how to motivate your membership. 500 students attended this event.

The Sneak Peek at Greek event allowed over 700 students to come learn more about the Greek organizations we have at SHSU, we did have more students join the Greek community last year so we believe this event help fuel student’s interest in Greek organizations.

Greek Life has created a new Greek Life brochure and several Greek Life newsletters over the past year to better market the Greek Life program and our accomplishments to the SHSU community and prospective students and their parents. Greek Life made huge strides at supporting university events by attending key athletics games, participating in the Tree of Light Ceremony, helping out with President Gibson’s Investiture, participating in Bearkat All Paws In, attending the university’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Initiative workshops, and participating in Saturday at Sam and Passport to Sam during orientation.
