Industrial Technology BS (Industrial Management)

Goal

Students will develop knowledge and understanding of key concepts and skills relevant to Industrial Management.

Objective

Students will be able to demonstrate competency in key areas of Construction Management.

Indicator
Advanced Industrial Management Course Rubric
All students enrolled in the program must complete the Advanced Industrial Management course. The course addresses the skills and knowledge relevant to industrial management. Each semester several randomly selected assignments will be taken from the Advanced Industrial Management course. Faculty members will score the assignments using a scale of 1 - 5 with 3 "meets expectations," 4 "exceeds expectations," and 5 "far exceeds expectations."


Criterion
At Least 70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members that at least 70% of the students enrolled in the advanced management course will perform at an acceptable level with a score of 3 (meets expectations) or higher.

Finding
Safety Mgmt Assessment
Due to low enrollment in Industrial Management, only one student was enrolled in the evaluated course.  The student's evaluation was a 3.8.  The student received acceptable marks on all evaluated criterion with weakness noted as writing skill and proposal organization.


Action
Objective
With only one student being assessed, faculty deemed the lack of data and low number of evaluated students do not warrent change to expectations or goal.  Continuation of Management program is being reviewed by strategic planning committee.

Develop Professional Skills
Students will learn the skills necessary to compete in the professional marketplace.

Objective
Demonstrate Professional Skills
Students completing the BS in Industrial Management will be able to demonstrate skills and their ability to compete in the professional marketplace through an internship.

Indicator
I T 490 Internship Evaluation
All students enrolled in the program must complete I T 490 in their final year of enrollment. I T 490 addresses key concepts and skills relevant to the field of technology. Each semester interns will be evaluated by their internship supervisor and by their faculty supervisor on a faculty-developed rating scale.

Criterion
70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members who review both university and internship supervisor assessments that at least 70% of the students enrolled in I T 490 demonstrated an acceptable level of performance on the rating scales.  

Finding
Assessment Of Outcomes
No IM students were enrolled in I T 490 to assess this evaluation period.


Action
Review Of Objective
Expectations of goal and objective will be maintained and not changed for the next assessment period.



Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Stategic Planning committee is reviewing the IM program due to low enrollment, industry need, and interest from incoming students.  Continuation of the degree program is under review by Department Chair.
