Goal
Develop Knowledge And Skills
Students will develop knowledge and understanding of key concepts and skills relevant to Electronics.

Students will be able to demonstrate competency in key areas of Electronics.

Indicator
Advanced Electronics Course Rubric
All students enrolled in the program must complete the Advanced Electronics course in their final year of enrollment.  The course addresses key concepts and skills relevant to the field of electronics. Each semester seven randomly selected student assignments from the Advanced Electronics course will be reviewed by faculty members with expertise in the field. Faculty members will score the assignments using a scale of 1 - 5 with 5 being the highest.


Criterion
At Least 70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members that at least 70% of the students enrolled in an advanced electronic course will perform at an acceptable level with a score of 3 (meets standards) or higher.

Finding
Advanced Electronics Skill
Students enrolled in an Advanced Electronics Class demonstrated exceptional learning outcomes with course projects.  Average score from assessment rubric was 4.6. Only minor weakness was detail on designs.

Action
Skill Assessment
Faculty will allow more time within drafting lab with more explanation of project and expectations so that more detail will be included on the projects design.

Develop Professional Skills
Students will learn the skills necessary to compete in the professional marketplace.

Objective
Demonstrate Professional Skills
Students completing the BS in Electronics will be able to demonstrate skills necessary to compete in the professional marketplace through an internship.

Indicator
I T 490 Internship Evaluation
All students enrolled in the program must complete I T 490 in their final year of enrollment. I T 490 addresses key concepts and skills relevant to the field of electronic technology. Each semester interns will be evaluated by their internship supervisor and by their faculty supervisor on a faculty-developed rating scale.

Criterion
70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members who review both university and internship supervisor assessments that at least 70% of the students enrolled in I T 490 demonstrated an acceptable level of performance on the rating scales.


Finding
Professional Skill With Internship
No Electronic student participated in an internship during this evaluation period.

Action
Professional Skills
No action was able to be taken due to the lack of participation and low enrollment in program.



Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Effective Fall 2011, the electronics program will be terminated due to low enrollment and graduation rates.
