Students will be able to demonstrate competency in key areas of Construction Management.

Indicator
Advanced Design And Development Assignment Rubric
All students enrolled in the program must complete the Advanced Construction Management course in their final year of enrollment.  The course addresses key concepts and skills relevant to the field of construction management. Each semester seven randomly selected student assignments from the Advanced Construction Management course will be reviewed by faculty members with expertise in the field of industrial technology.  Faculty members will score the assignments using a scale of 1 - 5 with 3 "meets expectations," 4 "exceeds expectations," and 5 "far exceeds expectations."


Criterion
At Least 70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members that at least 70% of the students enrolled in advanced I T course will perform at an acceptable level with a score of 3 (meets expectations) or higher.

Finding
Management Assessment
Students met faculty goals with over 70% exceeding a 3.0 on their Management Proposals - actual score was 4.1.  Students demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government policy for safety and for identifying construction hazards.  Faculty noted improvement should be expected in their submitted documents and safety proposals.  Most concerns were with organization and clarification of the document.

Action
Assessment Of Objective
Faculty will utilize industry safety management plans and government proposals to illustrate and demonstrate proposal format to enhance clarity and organizations of documents.  Expectations and goal will remain as stated.

Students will learn the skills necessary to compete in the professional marketplace.





Objective
Demonstrate Professional Skills
Students completing the BS in Construction Management will demonstrate skills necessary to compete in the professional marketplace through an internship.

Indicator
I T 490 Internship Evaluation
All students enrolled in the program must complete I T 490 in their final year of enrollment. I T 490 addresses key concepts and skills, as well as practical demonstrations of competency relevant to the field of construction management. Each semester interns will be evaluated by their internship supervisor and by their faculty supervisor on a faculty-developed  rating scale.

Criterion
70% Meeting Expectations
There will be a general consensus among I T Faculty members who review both university and internship supervisor assessments that at least 70% of the students enrolled in I T 490 demonstrated an acceptable level of performance on the rating scales.  

Finding
Student Industry Evaluation
Construction Mgmt students were very successful with industry work experience/internship.  All interns received an average of 5.0; only 1 student received a 4 for personality traits exhibited.  This was an isolated incident and did not reflect an issue with the I T program or curriculum.

Action
Professional Skills
Faculty will increase expectations from a 3.0 to 4.0 for next assessment period.  Faculty feel all aspects of the program have met their expectations.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Goals and Objectives were successfully achieved.  Faculty will increase expectations of students while obtaining work place experience via internships.  Academically, industry and government safety proposals will be reviewed in class and utilized as models for students to gain a more in-depth understanding when writing safety management proposals and plans for the workplace.
