Review Departmental Service Goals
Currently, most faculty members are focused on improving research productivity and teaching effectiveness. However, faculty within the department need to be aware of the specific service goals listed above. There are two specific actions the department will employ to improve university service:
  1. Since younger faculty are underrepresented on university committees, the department chair will ensure all tenure-track faculty indicate their willingness to serve on the faculty senate survey.
  2. During the scheduled beginning of semester meeting, the chair will stress the importance of serving the academy by taking leadership positions within professional organizations.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement The department has a strong record of research. Additionally, its service within the university is well-established. However, there are several opportunities to increase the quality of the department's programs. As a direct result of reviewing the departmental objectives, the following actions have been established:

  1. All faculty members will be required to present during the departmental seminar series. A faculty member who does not make a presentation during the year will not be eligible for travel reimbursement.

  2. A program review for economics and international business will begin AY 2011. It is expected that a more focused and marketable program will help generate more majors.
