Action

Action
Changes For 2010-2011
The Reeves Center fell short of its goal by about $500.  In part, this was due to the Department paying for some computer hardware out of our Capital Equipment budget.  Still, there is room for improvement here.  The chair and the director of the Reeves Center will discuss ways to be more active in seeking needed materials and supplies.

Goal

Establish and coordinate innovative inservice programs for mathematics teachers.

No workshops were conducted during the 2009-2010 school year.

Action
Inservice Workshops
The Reeves Center did not meet its goal of providing at least two workshops for mathematics teachers this past year.  Since little or no information was made available to school districts about this opportunity, the Reeves Center will make a concerted effort to rectify that next year.

Action
Continued Conference Support
The Reeves Center met its goal of supporting (via staffing) one conference on the teaching of Mathematics for teachers in grades 8-12.  At this point, the registration fee charged by the conference and fees paid by exhibitors do not require the Center to provide financial support.

Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement The Reeves Center has been able to provide support for faculty and departmental projects related to pre-service and in-service teacher education.  The Center fell short in its objective to provide inservice teacher workshops and this will be addressed in the next year.  In addition, it has been some time since the mission and structure of the Reeves Center has been examined, so an additional goal for next year will be to re-examine the mission of the Reeves Center to make sure we are still meeting the needs of mathematics teacher education in SHSU's service area.
