BCBA certification exam developed by the BACB and administered through Pearson Testing Centers.

70% of candidates will pass the BCBA exam

Reported Scores On Exam
83% of students taking the BCBA examination passed the certification exam.

Action
Criteria Raised
Since 83% of students taking the BCBA examination passed, it is reasonable to raise the criterion to 85% or higher.  A new practice examination will need to be developed or purchased to prepare students for the rigors of the BCBA exam.

Mastery Of Council For Exceptional Children (CEC) Knowledge And Skills
Mastery of CEC knowledge and Skills of Special Educator

Objective
Comprehensive Exams
Candidates will demonstrate mastery of knowledge and skills on comprehensive examinations referenced to the standards set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Knowledge and Skills for special education teachers.

Scoring Rubric
Faculty-developed rubric scored by two independent faculty members following standards of CEC and the BACB task list.

Passing Rates
80% of candidates will score 70% or better on the rubric (see attached).

90% of test takers passed the comprehensive examination.

Action
Alignment And Pass Rates
Since 90% of students taking comprehensive exams scored 70% or better, it is reasonable to increase the passing percentage to 80% or higher.  CEC knowledge and skills need to be examined to ensure they are integrated into coursework for completion of the LIDA program and parallel to that of the BCBA task list.

Mastery Of BDS (Behavior Development Solutions) Assessment Instruments
BDS software program supports  BCBA certification exam preperation.

Completion with 100% accuracy in BDS software program modules.

Criterion
Passing Rates On Modules
90% of students in SPD 587 (Research in Special Education) will achieve a score of 100% in BDS software modules.


Finding
Module Scores
100% of students enrolled in SPD 587 received a score of 100% in all BDS modules.

Action
BDS Improvements
The current version of the BDS software needs to be purchased to include the newer edition that stresses verbal behavior.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement To encourage a higher rate of mastery, faculty will review and upgrade current standards and expectations and implement higher criteria levels of mastery on the indicators to be ready Fall 2010.  CEC knowledge and skills need to be examined to ensure they are integrated into coursework for completion of the LIDA program and parallel to that of the BCBA task list.  A new practice examination will need to be developed or purchased to prepare students for the rigors of the BCBA exam.
