Research forums are meetings of COBA faculty and/or other invited presenters where research findings and/or ideas are presented and feedback is provided by faculty and/or others in attendance.

In conjunction with the department of Economics and Business Analysis the Center will hold at least six research forums with an average attendance of ten faculty.

Research Forums
The Center held research forums in  conjunction with the department of Economics and International Business during the fall and spring semester. More than six forums were held and the average attendance exceeded 10.

Research Forums
The Center will continue to work with various departments in the College of Business to create and publicize research forums.

Working Paper Series
Several working papers published during the 09-10 academic year need to be added to the Gibson D. Lewis website.

To provide the means for COBA faculty to share its expertise.

Publish College Of Business Administration Research
The intention of the Gibson D. Lewis Center for Business and Economic Development is to publish faculty research and/or pedagogical papers.

Working Papers
Faculty research and/or pedagogical papers will be published in hard copy and made available on the Center website.

Criterion
Promote Faculty Expertise
At least five COBA faculty authored papers focusing on either research or instructional development issues will be published in hard copy and listed on the CBER website.

Nine research papers were published by the Gibson D. Lewis Center for Business and Economic Development during the 2009-2010 academic year.  Not all have been added to the Center Website.

To enhance COBA image by providing service to COBA external constituents.

Publish Journal Of Business Strategies
It is the intention of the Gibson D. Lewis Center for Business and Economic Development to publish two issues of the Journal of Business Strategies during the 2009-2010 academic year.

The Journal of Business Strategies is a quality peer reviewed journal.

Two issues of the Journal of Business Strategies will be published during the 09-10 academic year.

Finding
Journal Of Business Strategies
Two issues of the Journal of Business Strategies were published during the 09-10 academic year.  During the fall vol  26, number 2, a regular isssue was published.  During the spring, vol 27, number 1, a special issue on migration, remittances, and trade agreements was published.

Journal Of Business Strategies -- Digitize
Current issues of the Journal of Business Strategies will be digitized and placed on the Center for Business and Economic Development website.

The staff of the Gibson D. Lewis Center for Business and Economic Development intents to publish research that measures the economic impact of various economic events and/or entities.

RIMS II Multipliers
The Center for Business and Economnic Development will acquire RIMS II multiplier from the Bureau of Economic Analysis that will be used to measure the economic impact of economic activities or events.

RIMS II multipliers were acquired for three separate geographic areas in Texas to be used for Economic Impact Analysis

IMPLAN Economic Mulipliers
The Center for Business and Economic Analysis will acquire the IMPLAN software and data used to calculate the economic impact of activities and events.

IMPLAN Multipliers
IMPLAN software was acquired along with mulitpliers for Walker County to be used to calculate economic impacts of activities and events.

Economic Impact Analysis
The Center for Business and Economic Analysis will perform at least one economic impact study during the 09-10 academic year.

Economic Impact Study
An Economic Impact study for Main Gate Plaza, a proposed office building and hotel to be located in The Woodlands area was completed in April of 2010.

Action
Economic Impact Studies
The Center will continue to used the RIMS II multipliers and IMPLAN software and data to look for opportunities to do economic impact studies for public and private economic entities.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement The Gibson D. Lewis Center for Business and Economic Development will continue to publish the Journal of Business Strategies, while trying to improve the quality of the articles, finding new ways to be indexed, and expanding subscriptions.  The Center will continue to work with the department of Economics and Business Analysis to hold Research Forums and look for ways to expand these forums to other departments.  The Center will continue to publish the Working Paper Series and will make those papers available on the Center website.  The Center will continue to work with private and public entities to publish Economic Impact Studies.
