Objective
Laboratory Technician Staff Position
Submit a proposal to acquire a Laboratory Technician Staff Position as part of the annual departmental budget proposal.  The individual filling this position will be charged with maintaining the instructional lab equipment and laboratory preparation that cannot be conducted by faculty.

The request for a Laboratory Technician Staff Position will be submitted as part of the annual departmental budget proposal by the deadline set by the College and Arts and Sciences.

The request for a Laboratory Technician was submitted with the annual departmental budget proposal on February 18, 2009, before the predetermined deadline.  Unfortunately, the request was denied due to lack of funds.

Action
Re-Evaluation Of Request And Re-Submission
The Physics Department will re-evaluate the necessity of acquiring a Laboratory Technician, and plans to re-submit the request for this staff position next year.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Going into the 2010-2011 assessment cycle, the Physics Department will continue to address the goals which have been deemed as beneficial to the department.  This includes maintaining an atmosphere in which research is important, and the production of research related materials is encouraged.  The Physics department will encourage its research track faculty to dedicate additional hours to their research and to submit their research to first tier conferences and publications. Physics will also continue to pursue additional staff and faculty position that will be beneficial to the overall mission of the department.
