Finding
Enrollment Numbers
2009-2010 student enrollment for the Department did not increase.  In the Administration and Counseling master's programs, enrollment actually decreased.    

Action
Recruitment Efforts
Specific and targeted recruitment efforts will be initiated by each program in the Department.  Faculty from both counseling and educational leadership will be designated to serve as the liaison for recruitment and will report efforts and results to the Department chair. 
The Department website will be redesigned to increase user friendliness.

The Department Faculty will strive for excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service.

Faculty are evaluated per University guidelines on research, teaching, and service.

Faculty will meet or exceed expectations in each area of the faculty evaluation system.

Finding
Faculty Performance
All faculty met expectations in teaching and service.  Two faculty members did not meet expectations in research. One was a new faculty member who had only been employed for one semester.

Action
Support For Faculty Not Meeting Expectations
The two faculty members who did not meet expectations in research will be asked to submit growth plans for how they will improve performance in this area.

an advisory committee for each master's and doctoral level program will provide feedback regarding their satisfaction with the EDLC programs and specializations.

Each program area received specific feedback from its corresponding Advisory Council and will implement feedback appropriately.

Enhance the quality and effectiveness of the academic programs

Enhance Academic Program Quality
Graduates will be competent in specialization content area and skills appropriate to their discipline. Students will demonstrate their level of competence by passing certification exams.

Student scores on program-specific TExES (state certification) exams

TExES Scores
90% of test takers will earn the required score on the corresponding TExES exam to achieve certification

TExES Scores
The School Counseling program had an 82% pass rate (9 of 11 students), with the lowest scores occurring in Domain 2, Planning and Implementation of the Development Guidance and Counseling program.  The Superintendent program had a 25% pass rate (1 of 4 students), with the lowest scores in Domain 2, Instructional Leadership.  The Principal program had a 62% pass rate (see attached).   


Action
Weaknesses Addressed
A committee will be formed to specifically address weaknesses in candidates' TExES performance. Dr. Julie Combs will chair this committee, and the committee will be charged with developing specific strategies to improve scores, both with short and long term objectives.



Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement A committee will be formed to specifically address weaknesses in candidates' TExES performances and to develop specific strategies to improve scores, particularly in the Principal and Superintendent programs.  Feedback from Advisory Councils will be implemented throughout the year, and faculty who need improvement based on the Faculty Evaluation System will develop a growth plan. Specific and targeted recruitment efforts will be initiated by each program in the Department, with designated faculty to serve as liaisions for recruitment and report efforts/results to the Department chair.  In addition, the Department website will be redesigned to increase user friendliness.
