Goal
Quantitative Proficiency
Finance BBA students will be proficient in the quantitative formulas required in financial applications. This will prepare the student for a career in finance after graduation.

Objective
Finance Core Financial Modeling Concepts
Finance BBA students will correctly apply financial models used in solving quantitative problems in finance.

Indicator
Finance Quantitative Embedded Questions
Assessment will be made using embedded questions and assess student performance on core quantitative concepts and principles in finance. The core questions will be composed from the core modeling concepts addressed in each course. FIN 334W, 367, 432

Criterion
Finance: Improvement On Quantitative Scores
The class average on the embedded questions will be 70% correct on the quantitative portion of the exam. Embedded questions will be included on each unit examination.

Finding
Finance: Improvement On Quantitative Embedded Questions
Students that took the examinations containing the embedded questions achieved an average of all units tested 77% correct. Some units fell below the desired 70% and emphasis on instruction is to be adjusted accordingly.

Action
Finance: Improvement On Quantitative Embedded Questions Exam Scores
Based on scores from the in-depth application and modeling based questions. An evaluation of time devoted to this area of the course will occur. Adjustments will be made to the focus of the course curriculum. The expectation is that an increase focus in this area will yield improvements on student performance.

Finance students will demonstrate an understanding of the qualitative aspects of finance.

Finance Qualitative Embedded Questions
Assessment will be made using embedded questions and analyze the students performance on core qualitative concepts and principles of finance. The questions for the embedded questions were selected from each of the core areas of the respective course. FIN 334W, 367, 432

Criterion
Finance: Improvement On Qualitative Embedded Questions Exam Scores
The class average on individual embedded exam questions will be 70% correct on the qualitative portion of the exam. Embedded questions will be included on each unit examination.

Students that took the examinations that included embedded questions achieved an average of all units tested 74% correct. Some units fell below the desired 70% and emphasis on instruction is to be adjusted accordingly.

Based on scores from the qualitative sections of the embedded questions indicates that students are proficient in this area. No changes will be made to the course curriculum at this time. However, a continuous review of the post-test scores is occurring and adjustments will be made accordingly.

Ratings and feedback of the Finance student as measured by the IDEA form.

Criterion
Finance Comparison
Finance faculty will have an IDEA score average of 50% in at least one course taught.

General Business Comparison
100% of the finance faculty achieved 50% or better as measured by the IDEA form.

Finance Student Satisfaction
While the faculty met the effective instruction goal. The department will hold faculty instruction training to ensure that this goal continues to be met in the future.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement After reviewing the students' scores on post-tests, adjustments were made to the time and focus allocated to the respective subjects covered in each course. It is believed that after this adjustment is made scores in the respective areas will increase.
