Goal
Goal For Bachelor Of Arts Degree In Photography. Students To Demonstrate Basic Skills.
To graduate students from a Bachelor of Arts program in Photography with demonstrated artistic, basic academic, intellectual, and literacy skills.

Indicator
Curriculum, Facility Operation, Faculty Evaluations.
The sturcture of courses, the operation of studios and labs, the assessment of instructors on IDEA evaluations, and the purposeful exposure of students to professional practices both within and outside of the classroom.

Criterion
Evaluation Of Course Syllabi, Assignments, And Faculty IDEA Scores.
Examination of course syllabi, course assignments, faculty IDEA scores.

Finding
Environment Well Constructed
Review of curriculum and faculty were both conducted within the department.

Action
Continue To Asses Student Environment
Continue to monitor the student creative and learning environment through review of syllabi, faculty evaluations, and re-assessment of facilities.

Objective
Provide Students With Basic Technical And Aesthetic Skills In Support Of Personal Expression.
To provide students with basic technical and aesthetic skills in order to support their personal photographic expression.

Indicator
Implement The W.A.S.H Program Within The Degree
Implement the W.A.S.H Program as a foundation for understanding photography and its contribution to the arts.

Criterion
Was The W.A.S.H Program Implemented
Was the W.A.S.H Program successfully established for the Fall 2008 semester?

Finding
The W.A.S.H Program Is Being Implemented.
The WASH program was implemented in the Fall of 2008. Students participating in WASH will pass through the BFA review at the end of Spring 2010. Evaluation will proceed at this time.

Action
Evaluate WASH Students
The first WASH students will pass through the BFA review at the end of Spring 2010. At this time an evaluation process will be in place to assess the foundation program.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement The BA in Photography will be the Liberal Arts degree offered by the Art Department for students who choose not to pursue the Professional degree (BFA Photography) or who fail to pass the BFA portfolio review. The Art Department will reassess the need for the BA in Photography and determine whether or not the BA in Studio Art can serve the needs of this program.
