Goal
Deliver Current, Rigorous Curricula
The department will insure that all curricula meet current professional standards and will insure that the rigor of these curricula are monitored and modified appropriately

Objective
Faculty Will Remain Current In Their Discipline
Faculty, through research and attending professional meetings, will remain current in their field and will insure that the curricula is remains current with the industry.

Faculty will be encouraged to attend professional development meetings to maintain currency in curricula.

Faculty Development Standards
Each faculty is required to attend at least 2 professional development meeting through out the academic year.

Finding
Professional Development Summary
At least 90% of the facutly attended at least 2 professional meetings. Two attended only 1 meeting.

Research Activities
Faculty will be strongly encouraged to develop research agendas and conduct current and applicable research in their field of discipline.

Research Standards
All faculty must be active in research and publishing activities.

Research Activity Summary
All faculty, with exception of one, were actively conducting research and had manuscripts or were in the submission phase of publications.

Action
Professional Development For Faculty
Continue to encourage faculty to attend professional development meetings and conduct relative research and publications. Secure funding for such activity.

Provide Effective Communication With Internal And External Constituencies
The department will insure that appropriate communication channels are maintained with the College of Arts and Sciences Office, upper administration, current students, prospective students, and other external constituencies.

Master plan was completed. Priority for Ag Center relocation was developed. Infomration was provided to administration, advancement and protiential donors.

Centennial Celebration
Department will promote their centennial with assistance from Univeristy Advancement. Sponsors and donors will be solicited.

Department activities and celebration of centennial will be promoted to administration, alumni and friends.

Finding
Summary Of Centennial
Sponsors have been procured for celebration. A program developed and several alumni events were held through out the state to promote the celebration.

Student Recruitment
Departmente will be active in recruiting students.

Criterion
Recuitment Activities
Faculty and Ag Ambassadors will visit Junior colleges, career days and youth conventions to recruit potential students for the department. Department will participate in Saturday @ Sam activities.

Recuitment Activites
Department participated at State 4H round-up, State FFA Convention, made several visits to junior colleges, and over 50 high school visits.

The department will continue its communication efforts both internally and externally.

Procure Appropriate Resources To Facilitate The Academic Mission Of The Department
The department will monitor the classroom, laboratory, research, and out-reach (service) needs of the unit. Budget requests will reflect these needs.

Continue to upgrade and develop classrooms and laboratory faciilties, equipment, and resources.

Each program area will develop a priority of capital improvements for classrooms, laboratories and equipment. A master plan for classroom and Ag Center relocation will be developed.

Increase in capital improvements for the department and program area.

Capital Improvements
Procurement of new equipment in equine, electronics, AET, Gibbs Ranch was successful. Upgrading classrooms with new equipment will be an ongoing goal.

Plan Completion
A master plan for academics and relocation of Gibbs Ranch was completed. Chair presented plan to legislators, development office, and several potential donors.

Action
Physcial And Property Improvements
Department will continue to request faculty to prioritize capital improvements for their program area. Department will utilize allocated funding for improvements but also solicte from other entiites for capital and property improvements.

Goal
Provide Appropriate Personnel Resources For The Unit
The department will assess the personnel (staff and faculty) needs of the unit on an annual basis. Annual funding requests will reflect these needs and hiring decisions will be based on these needs. The department office will provide appropriate resources and encourage faculty and staff to participate in development opportunities.

Increase FTE's In The Department
Increase the number of faculty to lecturer ratio by securing more faculty lines (FTE's).

The number of faculty in the department will monitored based on enrollment increases.

Criterion
FTE's
IT, Ag Business, and Animal Science have experienced a large enrollment increase without a significant change in FTE's in each area.

Finding
FTE Summary
One new FTE was allocated to the department and was assigned to Ag Business (search continues). The staff request was not approved. Both Horticulture and Ag business postions were filled.

Action
FTE Request
Requested for additional FTE's and support staff in the office. Received one additional FTE, assigned to Ag Business.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement Faculty will be continually encouraged to attend professioanl meeting and maintain research activites to maintain currency in thier program area and curricula. Chair will continue to request additional support staff for office and FTE's in areas of growth. The department will continue to foster improved relationships with administration and alumni to promote its mission and objectives.
