In addition to the COE Recruitment Committee, all EDLC faculty are expected to actively recruit for all programs. A contract has been awarded to a promotional company for the develompent of DVD's for all programs in the COE including EDLC Department.

On-campus visibility will be achieved via determination of important committees and roles in the university and college, faculty members will serve in important and influential positions. Off-campus, all faculty will actively participate in recruitment, professional organizations and conferences, and publish scholarly publications in peer reviewed journals.

All full-time EDLC faculty serve on various departmental, college, and unviersity committees. All faculty members attend national and state conferences for their discipline, Educational Leadership and Counseling and make presentations at one or both of the conferences. All faculty have published at least one article in a professional journal.

The committees include the following: curriculum, program, goals, scholarship, research, professional development, library, etc. All EDLC faculty attended at least one national and state conference, all made presentations at a conference and all faculty published at least one article in a professional journal.

The members agreed that the programs are effective and provide excellent learning experiences for students.

The IDEA evaluation of faculty was completed by student in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. The average score assigned to EDLC faculty by students is consistently higher than the average score assigned to faculty in other departments across the campus.

Employers of graduates from the doctoral program complete a satisfaction survey as required for CACREP accrediation. Six of the seven employers returned surveys and indicated satisfaction our graduates.

Suggestion from Employer Satisfaction Survey
-Based on feedback from employers and to meet CACREP requirements, CNE faculty have developed an advanced multicultural course. The course will be submitted to the COE curriculum committee in Fall 2009 for approval.
-Based on feedback from students concerning intern sites and supervisors, one site was eliminated as an acceptable facility for students to do their internship.
-EDLC faculty will continue to meet annually with Advisory Committees for each program and specialization in the department.

-CNE students in the school counseling track maintain a 100% pass rate on the TExES Examination. (see TExES Scores Report attached, line 53)
-CNE counseling MA students passed the NBCC examination for the first test administration at 100% and the second test administration at 90%
-EDL students in the principal certification program passed the TExES examination at 80% pass rate (see TExES Scores Report line 52)
- Students in the superintendent certification program passed the TExES at 100% pass rate (see TExES Scores Report line 59).

The EDLC department faculty is all programs will continue to align learning objectives for students with competencies on the TExES Examination for each specialization area.


Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement During 2009-2010 plans for recruitment and development of recruitment brochures were created and will be a major guiding factor in the year 2009-2010. Due to the decrease in enrollment in the Educational Leadership and Counseling Program, recruitment and advertisement are a major focus. EDLC faculty representatives will consult with the COE recruitment committee and SHSU's marketing director to maximize our efforts and ensure best practices for recruiting. The EDLC Department chair will request more scholarships for incoming students
from the Graduate Studies Dean in an attempt to encourage students to consider SHSU because of financial support with tuition. A recruitment DVD will be created by a professional outside company during 2009-2010 and used to recruit for the entire college. To ensure the EDLC Department offers quality programs,faculty will have the opportunity to attend professional development seminars and workshops throughout the year. Knowledge and skills gained from the professional seminars and workshops will integrated in the faculty's quality of instruction, thereby, improving the preparedness of the faculty to offer the best possible education for students seeking a degree within the EDLC Department. All EDLD faculty will attend, present at conferences and publish in scholarly journals during 2009-2010.
