Update to previous cycle's plan for continuous improvement

Plan for continuous improvement As a result of our assessment of our divisional goals, objectives, indicators, criteria and the findings relating to the following, changes were made to close the feedback loop.

1. We altered our communication with the Coordinating Board staff to provide for earlier consultation, reducing the probability of proposal rejection.

2. We obtained permission to bring forward to the Coordinating Board proposals out of the normal review cycle after consultation with the staff. This will allow for more responsible proposal cycles.

3. We more clearly tied budgeting to program development to ensure the availability of resources in a timely fashion.

4. Budget priorities were realigned to provide more scholarship funds for freshmen and transfer students to promote higher entering SAT scores and higher retention and graduation rates and larger numbers of students qualified for the Honors Program.

5. A dean???s suite is being constructed as an addition to the Performing Arts Center, which is under construction, so that a new college may be created as outlined in Goal A, Objective C.

6. We reorganized all distance learning activity to fall under a new associate vice president of distance learning.

7. We reformed the College of Criminal Justice to increase focus on publication, e.g., major journals, and decrease attention to applied areas.

8. A university-wide space committee will be created to ensure cross-division cooperation on space allocation.

9. A program has been initiated to increase faculty involvement in student retention to promote enrollment growth.

10. Plans are underway to create a center for the study of basic values and western culture.
