The Compositive Science BS as an educational degree is ending. On the basis of feedback from the State, from secondary educators, and from organizations in the profession, instead students will major in the science of their choice, with a minor in Secondary Education.

Phase Out Of Program
A panel of science faculty will address the necessary paperwork to discontinue the program and discuss the handling of students currently enrolled in the program.

Students currently enrolled in the program should be allowed to complete their studies without delay. No students should be allowed to enter this program effective immediately.

Paperwork will be filed with THECB to abolish the program and students enrolled will be contacted.
Finding
Phasing Out Program
There are four SHSU students enrolled in the program. Three have changed majors to single area science programs and are persuing secondary certification. One student will be allowed to complete the composite science degree, but no certification will be offered. The student plans to attend graduate school. Paperwork has been filed to abolish the program.
