Interior Design Program Accreditation
The Interior Design program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will achieve accreditation through the Council of Interior Design Accreditation.

The program Exit Survey for interior design majors includes a section that test the retention of course material. It is evaluated as a high pass, pass and low pass.

At least 80% of interior Design students who complete the program Exit Survey will score a Pass or High pass.

The employers of Interior Design interns will be willing to hire the intern for an entry-level employment position within their company.

The business supervisor evaluation form contains a question regarding the interior design intern's potential as an employee that will be extracted and reported as a percentage.

At least 70% of business supervisors of IND interns will indicate that they would hire the intern if there was an employment position available in their company.

60% of graduating interior design students with a BS degree indicated their satification with the buinding and facilities in AB2 at a 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score of 2.8/4.0 was indicated by the interior design students with a BS degrgee.

Continue to maintain the interior design studio space (AB2-Room 315) with computers/drafting table to increase quality of facilities to meet the expectations of the interior design students working on the BS degree. Continue to maintain other parts of the building and facilities that meet the expectation of the students. Student assessment of faculities has improved over previous year with the addition of the computers in the Design Studio space (AB2-Room 315), however the space is crowded with additional resource materials that are difficult to keep organized.

60% of graduating interior design student with a BS degree rated they were satisfied with their networking opportunities with a score of 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score was 2.73.

Networking Opportunities
Continue to provide a broad range of networking opportunities for interior design students working on the BS degree. Emphasize to students that networking during their term at Sam Houston should start when they enter the program and includes all classroom guest speakers, participation in professional organization activities and contacts made during an internship experience. Several students who indicated a lower level of satisfaction with networking opportunities were also looking for internships in more distance communities where there was no previous internship connection made by the program.

The interior design program will provide the student professional organizations, ASID and KON, that will be viewed as satisfactory for professional growth.

73% of graduating interior design students with a BS degree indicated they were satified with a rating of 3.0/4.0 for the programs''''s professional organization. The average score was 2.9/4.0.

Action
Professional Organizations
Continue providing interior design students working on the BS degree with appropriate opportunities for partipation in professional organizations. Of the students working on the BS degree there were several who were commuters or were employed who could not make the meeting times established by the professional organization. This had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area.
