An expectation of at least forty (40) doctoral student publications will be reported in 2007-2008.

19 doctoral student publications were reported in 2007-2008. This number is much lower than the previous four years suggesting a possible tracking error.

Create an official database to log and track student publications.

Student Presentations
Increase conference presentation productivity among doctoral students.

Student Presentations
Students will demonstrate research compentency through conference presentations of their research.

Student Presentations
At least fifty (50) conference presentations will be reported for academic year 2007-2008 by doctoral students.

Student Presentations
Doctoral students reported presentations at 57 academic conferences for academic year 2007-2008.

Student Presentations
Even though the expectations were exceeded, an official database to log and track student presentations will be created.

Students will analyze the various theoretical frameworks within the discipline of Criminology.

Comprehensive Theory Exam
Students with a concentration in theory and with completed coursework, will take a comprehensive theory exam

Comprehensive Exams
70% will sucessfully pass Theory Comprehensive Exam by the 2nd attempt.

More than 70% passed comprehensive examinations by second attempt.

Assemble committee to examine the revision of the comprehensive exam process in 2008-2009.

Knowledge In The Field Of Criminal Justice
Produce students of crime and justice who possess the intellectual and methodological skills necessary for the continuing process of discovery and understanding of crime and justice related issues. The graduate should be capable of integrative and analytical thinking, competent at transmitting knowledge, able to engage in various accepted modes of research, and should possess skills in problem-solving.

Techniques In Statistics And Research Methods
Students will develop proficiency in measurement and research techniques used in criminology and criminal justice.

Proficiency In Statistical Techniques
Students will demonstrate proficiency in statistical and methodological techniques through successful completion of written comprehensive examinations.

Criterion
Comprehensive Examinations
At least 70% of students will pass the Statistics and Research Methods comprehensive examination by the second attempt.

70% or more 2007-2008 graduating students will successfully defend a final dissertation within two years of passing the comprehensive exams.

99% successfully defended a final dissertation within two years of passing the comprehensive exams.

Action
Increase dissertation defense
As nearly 100% of the students successfully defended dissertation within two years of passing the comprehensive exams, no further action is needed.
