Assessment By Writing Skills Exam
Students in MCM 132 will be tested at the beginning and at the end of the semester to assess the development of their writing skills.

Criterion
Results of Writing Skills Exam
At least 75% of students in various sections of MCM 132 will show improvement in their writing skills.

Finding
Writing Tests in MCM 132
All students in two sections of MCM 132 showed improvement on the Before-After Diagnostic Writing Exam. In MCM 132 02, 20 students made an average of 3.2 fewer mistakes on the After-Test. In MCM 132 03, 20 students made an average of 3 fewer mistakes on the After-Test.

Action
Review of Instrument
Faculty in MCM 132 were satisfied with the revised instrument and will use the same Before-After Diagnostic Writing Skills Exam in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009.

The MCM Department will graduate students who understand the basic concepts of media law and ethics.

Objective
Knowledge Of Specific Legal Concepts & Theories
To graduate students who can use specific concepts and theories to assess First Amendment, copyright, privacy and libel issues.

Assessment By Exit Exam--Media Law & Ethics
Graduating seniors in MCM 412 will take an exit exam that measures their knowledge of the First Amendment, copyright, invasion of privacy and libel.

Criterion
Results on Exit Exam -- Media Law & Ethics
At least 75% of the students in MCM 412 will score 75 or better (out of 100) on the Media Law & Ethics Exit Exam.

Finding
Exit Exam Results -- Media Law & Ethics
Seventy-seven percent (44 out of 57) of the students in MCM 412 scored at least 75 (out of 100) or higher on the Exit Exam on Media Law & Ethics.

Action
Media Law and Ethics
Although we matched our target, we would like to improve, so we are going to look at methods of reinforcing this course content.

The MCM Department will graduate students who are familiar with global media systems and information economies.

To graduate students who can use specific concepts and theories to assess global media systems and information economies

Assessment By Exit Exam --Global Media
Graduating seniors in MCM 412 will take an exit exam that measures their knowledge of concepts and thoeories used to appraise global media systems and information economies.

Criterion
Results of Exit Exam -- Global Medai
At least 75% of the graduating seniors in MCM 412 will score 75 or better (out of 100) on the Global Media Exit Exam.

Finding
Exit Exam Results - Global Media
Forty-four percent (24 out of 55) of the students in MCM 412 scored at least 75 (out of 100) or higher on the Exit Exam on Global Media.

Action
Global Media
Courses concerning global media will be examined to see how content can be reinforced.
