Objective
Evaluate Developmental Reading Student Success Meeting Guidelines Of RDG 011

Indicator
Students Complete RDG 011 Class
Students whose scores on the TSI assessment fall in the highest range are allowed to take RDG 011, a one-hour course, and two intensive reading courses. Students enrolled in RDG 011 must make a "C" in all three courses.

Student success evaluated on the final grade in RDG 011 and the two intensive reading courses.

Student success in RDG 011 program evaluated
Data were collected on the 177 students who were in the RDG 011 program from Fall 05 - Fall 07. Analyzing the data, the findings were that 95% of students were success ful in their RDG o11 class, but over 50% did not make at least a "C" in one or both of the required intensive reading courses

RDG 011 program discontinued
Because fewer than 50% of students in the RDG 011 program were unsuccessful, it was determined that although this group of students were more successful on the TSI placement instrument, they still needed an intensive reading and thinking strategies course in order to be proficient and successful readers in their academic courses at the university level..
