Goal
Produce Graduates Capable Of Advanced Financial Analysis
Graduates of the Finance MS program will be capable of providing their employer with advanced financial skills or capable of continuing their education at the doctoral level in Finance.

Objective
Analytical Skills
A graduate of the Finance MS degree will be able to apply advanced financial principles to a variety of business scenarios.

Indicator
Critical Thinking
Finance MS students will take the Texas Assessment of Critical Thinking Skills (TACTS) in a required course.

Criterion
TACTS Scores Exceed Undergraduate Scores
The average of the TACTS scores will be 10% higher than that of the undergraduate students.

Finding
TACTS Results
A total of 42 graduate student were administered the TACTS instrument in fall 2006 in BAN568, a required class for the MS in Finance program. The graduate students had an average correct of 17.43 versus 13.41 for the undergraduates tested in the same time period. The graduate students'' mean score was 29.98% higher than the undergraduate students'' mean score.

Action
Assessment of Analytical Skills
Graduate students in the MS in Finance program will continue to be assessed using the TACTS instrument each academic year. Comparison of results from year to year will be used to determine if changes in admission requirements or curriculum are needed.

Finance Knowledge
Finance MS graduates will have an advanced understanding of financial principles.

Indicator
Advanced Financial Principles
Students will be able to apply knowledge of Finance in solving complex business problems.

Criterion
Test Scores
At least 80% of Finance MS students will score better than 75% on selected questions in various 500 level Finance courses.

This objective was not assessed this period. There was no assessment instrument available.
